Baptism
Baptism is an important step in the life of a Christian. Every believer should be baptized. Why? Because it is a vital part of the New Testament message both preached and lived out by Jesus and the Apostles.
Acts 10:46-48
“Then Peter answered, ‘Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?’ And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.”
One of the last things that Jesus said to the disciples was…
Matthew 28:19
“Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
If you have not yet been baptized, we invite you to attend one of our baptism services.
FAQ’s
Do I Need To Pre-register To Be Baptized?
It would help us make your baptism more special and personal if you pre-registered, but it is possible also for you to let us know the day of baptism that you are coming and still participate in the baptism.
Where Do You Perform Baptisms?
We do almost all of our baptisms in the ocean. It’s a perk of island living, and makes for great pictures!
Where Do I Come For Baptism?
Services are typically held every other month. Maps will be provided to you so that you can get invite your friends and family members to join you on this special occasion. We will instruct you on what time you need to be at the specific location.
What do I wear?
Bring your baptism clothes to the service. Women/girls should wear shorts and a (non-white) top rather than a swimsuit, or a dark colored t-shirt that completely covers the swimsuit. Men/boys should wear a swimsuit or shorts, and a t-shirt. Bring a towel.
Will I Have To Say Anything – What Can I Expect?
No, you do not have to say a thing. One of our pastors/leaders will say a few words and briefly lower you to just below the surface of the water. If you feel uncomfortable being put under the water, you can also opt to lower yourself under the water at the appropriate time. You can then exit the baptism area and watch as others celebrate their baptism.
Can My Family Be Baptized Together?
Yes! If each family member understands fully the meaning of baptism, we encourage families to be baptized at the same time. Young children who wish to be baptized are asked to meet with a pastor for a pre-baptism conversation prior to being baptized.
Can my infant or toddler be baptized?
It is important that the person being baptized understands why they are being baptized. For this reason, we will not baptize infants and toddlers. We invite you to register your child for one of the Child Dedication services instead.
